Lionism: is a spirit within Lions Clubs where members feel the need to help solve recognized problems and needs of the community through use of their own resources. The clubs are non-political and non-sectarian groups of persons from all facets of community life, who work to enhance cooperation among all agencies and organizations to meet and alleviate needs not only in their own country but also in over 200 countries throughout the world.
Chattered on 1st November 1993 with initially 45 members, this club consits primarily the employees of Kakira Sugar Limited - The Flagship of Madhvani Group of companies. Since its inception, the clubs continues to receive stront support and encouragement from the Madhvani family.
Our Sweet Story: At Kakira, the spirit of is a spirit and philosophy of lionism was introduced by the Madhvani family in 1950s. The late Mr. Jayant Madhvani together with Mr. Mayur Madhvani and Mr. Nikesh Madhvani are the early Melvin Johns Fellows [MJFs] of the club.
