Lions Clubs International is the largest service club organization in the world. Our 1.42 million members in more than 47,000 clubs are serving in over 200 countries and geographic areas around the globe. Since 1917, Lions have strengthened local communities through hands-on service and humanitarian projects, and we are able to extend our service impact through the generous support of our Lions Clubs International Foundation. We are focused on supporting sight, hunger, the environment, childhood cancer and our new global cause, diabetes, to help address some of the biggest challenges facing humanity. Lions have set an ambitious goal of helping 200 million people per year so we can bring even more service to more people than ever before. When it comes to meeting challenges, our response is simple: We Serve
In over 200 countries, in hospitals and senior centers, in regions battered by natural disaster, in schools and eyeglass recycling centers, Lions are doing community volunteer work, helping, leading, planning and supporting. Because we are local, we can serve the unique needs of the communities we live in. And because we are global, we can address challenges that go beyond borders.
Sight Programs
We want everyone to see a better tomorrow. That is why we support sight programs and services including vision screenings, eye banks and eyeglass recycling. Provide eye care services to those at risk of losing their sight. And raise donations through campaigns like SightFirst and Campaign SightFirst II.
Health Programs
We believe everyone deserves a healthy life. From providing health programs that focus on hearing loss to supporting efforts to control and prevent diabetes, Lions volunteers are working to improve the health of children and adults around the world.
Health Programs that Focus on Hearing, Diabetes and More
Lions are known as “knights of the blind” focusing on programs and services for the blind and visually impaired -- and aim to eliminate preventable and reversible blindness. But we also participate in other community health programs and projects.
Lions support local and large-scale global health programs to control and prevent diabetes and diabetic retinopathy, the leading cause of vision loss in adults of working age in industrialized countries.
Lions also focus on hearing, by arranging screenings, recreational camps for the deaf and hearing aid recycling programs for children and adults.
And around the world, many Lions service projects have an impact on health. For example, Lions in the United Kingdom funded the first fully equipped ambulance for newborns in Bosnia and Herzegovina. And Lions in the Cayman Islands have worked to increase awareness and early detection of breast cancer.
Youth Volunteer Opportunities
We empower the next generation. Whether it’s providing youth volunteer opportunities and leadership experiences in a Leo club or sharing a message of peace through our Peace Poster contest, we invest in the future by reaching out to young people.
Community and Environment Programs
We serve local communities and protect the planet. From performing hands-on community work and service projects to providing emergency assistance, our community and environment programs improve our communities and protect the environment.
Disaster Relief
We are among the first to respond when disaster strikes. Our Disaster Preparedness and Relief Programs enable Lions to help local communities and contribute to Lions relief efforts in other countries in the event of a natural, man-made or healthcare emergency.
Hearing Aid Assistance
The Lions provide help in obtaining hearing aids through Mid-South Lions Sight and Hearing Services located in Memphis, TN. To qualify the patient must meet the government’s indigent requirements. Press here to obtain detailed instructions.
