Greater Mt. Gravatt Mansfield.

The Lions Club of Greater Mt. Gravatt - Mansfield was initially formed to fill a need in the community in support of Schools, orphanages, Childrens entertainment, as well as assisting to care for the elderly in the community etc. Mt Gravatt Mansfield club received its charter on February 12 1992, and have been active in the community as well as supporting international initiatives such as drought relief, flood relief, emergencies, and natural disaster funds. In times of difficulty there will always be a Lion in the area to try to assist.

The Lions are often seen selling sausage sandwiches at the local Bunnings as well as selling Christmas cakes and raffles at the local supermarket. Another favourite project is to help feed those in need of assistance in the area. Some initial projects undertaken included:-

* Supply of materials and labour to install a flower and vegetable garden at Blue Care Respite Centre Mt Gravatt, assisted by labour from the Mt Gravatt Men's Shed.
* Donated 2 easy chairs to the Blue Care Respite Centre Mt Gravatt.
* Donated and installed a flagpole at Mt Gravatt East Aged Care.

Current programs in this area include:- Supplying food for the Mt. Gravatt community center established to help feed people needing assistance.

* Collecting spectacles for recycling. More on that "HERE".
* Supporting People living with disability
* Supporting Lions medical research foundation
* Supporting local schools and events
* Supporting Southside Community Care
* Australian Lions Foundation providing aid in times of natural disaster and emergency recovery, as well as rebuilding efforts.

Lions clubs have provided material and support for orphanages, schools, children's entertainment, as well as care for the elderly in the community for over a hundred years, and the Mt. These are just some of the projects supported by the Mt. Gravatt Mansfield Lions. Community service projects designed to assist the incapacitated, people in difficulty, and children with special needs.

These happy faces can be seen regularly at sausage sizzles, selling raffle tickets and Christmas cakes at the Mt. Gravatt Plaza.
