The city of Grand Marsh celebrated its centennial on July 9, 2011. At one
time there were twenty stores, professional offices and services for farmers.
This growth actually started in August 1910, shortly after the railroad began
operating in Adams county. Today the city has a population of 127 spread
out over its 1.209 square miles. Located within the town of New Chester
which is populated by 2,254 people over 31.4 square miles. The club
draws most of its members from within New Chester Township, but does
gladly accept members from outside the area. The clubs mission is to help
the Grand Marsh community, and the surrounding area, in any way we can.
In addition to requests from the community we support: Leader Dog, which
raises and trains dogs to become companions to persons with various
disabilities; Lions Camp, which allows those with learning, vision, and
diabetic disabilities to enjoy a rural setting that helps in gaining confidence
in themselves and interacting with others; and, the Adams County Lions
Eye Bank Support Group which relays corneas from donors to recipients.
There are also various Lions Club projects at the district and state levels.
Currently our main fund raiser is Spring On The Farm. We also do brat
fry's, and bake sales.
Remember, we meet the second monday of the the month at the
Wooden Nickel. Come on out, attend a meeting and meet our members.
You might just decide to join.
