Meetings

Goddard Mitten Tree is once again working with the community to provide food and gifts during the upcoming holidays for those in need within the Goddard School District.  Last year the Goddard Mitten Tree program helped 189 families and 391 children with food and gifts. This was made possible by the generosity of people like you.

We welcome anyone interested to be a part of the experience of helping others during this special time of the year. We are already hard at work on this year’s program and are always grateful for additional helping hands. If you would like to help please contact Lion Dan Funke at 316-650-0737 or djfunke@cox.net. We need your support to make this a successful program.  Here are some important dates to consider as you plan your calendars.

October 10 – November 8 | Applications for assistance available online.

October 17 – November 16 | Food Drives in the community and schools. Because of storage space, we cannot pick up food before November 14.

All food that is collected is given out to families in need in our community or donated to the Goddard Food Bank which is based at the Goddard Church (formerly the Goddard United Methodist Church).

Now until December 2 | Monetary donations for Mitten Tree accepted at Emprise Bank, via PayPal, or mail: Goddard Lions Club, PO Box 405, Goddard, KS 67052.

November 16 – December 9 | Mittens available on Mitten Trees at Walmart, Pizza Hut, and Goddard Public Library

If you need boxes, food picked up, have donations, or desire Mittens for your company please contact Lion Dan Funke at 316-650-0737 or e-mail him at djfunke@cox.net no later than November 10.

We appreciate your support and hope to hear from you soon about how you want to be involved in this worthwhile community service project. See below for other ways you can help.

Other ways to help

  • Hold food drives.  We were very short of funds and food last year.  Any extra food will be donated to The Goddard Church Food Pantry.
  • Pick a mitten off the tree at Walmart, Goddard Public Library, or Pizza Hut, and return it by December 11.
  • Hold a sock, underwear, hat, or glove drive before December 10 and deliver them to a Mitten Tree drop off.
  • Hold a wrapping paper and tape drive at a sporting: business or other events.  Lions will even help you if you desire.  For schools and organizations - If you collect 100 rolls of Christmas Wrap or 200 rolls of scotch tape Lions will donate $100 to your school or organization.
