Gilbert Lions Club was chartered on October 14, 1969 with 34 members after being converted from the Gilbert Boosters Club. Lion Ed Peterson of the Mesa Roadrunners Lions Club worked along with Lions Earl Becker and Jasper Cowart (Charter President) during the conversion process. The charter night was celebrated on December 13, 1969.
The club celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2019!! It is one of over 46,000 clubs around the world providing humanitarian services to those in need and belongs to the International Association of Lions Clubs.
Each year the club raises funds to improve the lives of members of the Gilbert community through many projects; Scholarships, Eye Glasses for Children and Adults, Educator Grants, and Flags for First Graders,
Our club also supports District 21-S and Multiple District Projects; Arizona Vision Center, The Lions Foundation of Arizona, Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation, Melvin Jones International Lions Memorial and Lions Camp Tatiyee. Currently the club is among 43 clubs in District 21-S and has a growing membership of 17 among the 1.4 million global membership.
