The reason we were chartered:

Fayetteville Elementary School is a major source of pride for the Fayetteville community. We are proud of our local students, educators and all their accomplishments. The new school was a “must have”, but because of the expansion necessary, the community lost its only baseball field. For years, the field had functioned much like a community center. It was used for a range of activities after school and throughout the summer. It became apparent to the Fayetteville community that Lawrence County would benefit greatly from the addition of a baseball field in the Fayetteville area, and incorporating that goal into a community park plan became a major undertaking for the Fayetteville Community Lions Club (FCLC).

An 8-year plan was formatted for providing this community resource. Strategically placed property was found with attributes fitting the needs. The most important element for this park, the 1st baseball field, was completed in 2013. Through many hours of hands on effort, planning and fund raising, Fayetteville Community Lions have pushed this project forward.

The field accommodates parents, grandparents, students and community members during baseball & softball games, for practices, with a walking track and as a source for outdoor activities. Currently, an indoor activity hall is being renovated from a barn on the property. Eventually a second field and a community meeting site will be added, making this a comprehensive community center and resource serving all of Lawrence County. The possibilities for this community resource are exciting and FCLC is keen to serve the community by getting this first piece of the plan--the baseball field--solidly in place. The second baseball field is currently under construction.
