Home for The Elderly

Many factors have contributed to the alienation of the elders:

  •  Migration of young couples from the rural areas to cities in search of better opportunities.

  •  Elders who have been in control of the household for a long time are unwilling to give up the responsibility to their children.

  •  Youngsters on their part are sometimes resentful of their parents.

  •  All these have made the Home for the Elderly seem more relevant in the Indian context than ever before.

  •  Under this context Lions Club of Erode Midtown established the ‘Home for the Elderly’ in the year 2004 through its Charitable Trust and the help of LCIF Grant worth Rs.35 lakhs & contributions of Rs.65 lakhs raised from Lions and others.

  •  The home is spread across 3.5 Acre land in Thottanichatram, just 15 kms from Erode. It can accommodate 100 Elders at nominal fees. Lush green surrounding, Temple for worship, Well furnished rooms, Library, Weekly Medical check up and Balanced diet along with affectionate care are the features of The Home for the Elderly.
