CURRENT SERVICE PROJECTS
 
ON AN INTERNATIONAL AND STATE LEVEL WE SUPPORT
 
Wisconsin Lions Eye Institute/Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin - dedicated to the mission of restoring the “Gift of Sight” through recovery and transplantation of corneas, research to advance the knowledge and treatment of eye diseases, and education to increase donations of human eyes after death. One month out the year we are responsible to transport eyes to Janesville and then in Janesville they are picked up and taken to the Eye Bank in Madison. See: http://lebw.org/

Wisconsin Lions Foundation - supports Lions Camp, Eyeglass Recycling Center, Hearing, Children’s Vision Screening, Diabetes Awareness & Youth Activities. See: www.wlf.info/
 
WI Lions Pride Campaign - funds Lions Camp, Vision Screening, Diabetes, Hearing Aids, Eyeglass Recycling, Deer hide collection, and Youth Projects Wisconsin. See: www.lionspride.org/

Leader Dogs for the Blind - provides guide dogs to people who are blind and visually impaired to enhance their mobility, independence and quality of life. See: www.leaderdog.org/
 
Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) - supports the humanitarian work of Lions          in making a greater impact in their local communities, as well as around the world. Blind Outdoor Leisure Development (BOLD) - purpose is to allow the blind and visually impaired to experience outdoor sports and leisure activities while developing their social and athletic skills. See: www.wisconsinbold.com/
 
ON A COMMUNITY LEVEL WE SUPPORT:
 
Big Brothers and Big Sisters - purpose is to help children reach their potential through one-to-one relationships with mentors that have a measurable impact on youth.  See: http://www.bbbs4kids.org/
 
VIP - a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Walworth County residents with disabilities to explore and experience endless possibilities. See: www.vipservices-inc.org

Local Sight - We give out gift certificates to needy people in Elkhorn area for eye exams and glasses and collect used eye glasses. See: http://www.elkhornlionsclub.org/

Matheson Library Building Fund - donated $25,000 for the renovation and addition of the civil center. See: www.elkhorn.lib.wi.us/
                        
Elkhorn Food Pantry - take in can and dry goods once a month at regular meetings

Diabetes Awareness - the American Diabetes Alert Day is a one-day, “wake-up” call to inform the American public about the seriousness of diabetes, particularly when diabetes is left undiagnosed or untreated. We try to make the public aware of the warning signs and encourage them to get tested.
 
ON A EDUCATION LEVEL WE SUPPORT:
 
Scholarships - last year we gave out two $1,000 scholarships
                        
Badger Boys State - a program which teaches the workings of government "by doing".

CURRENT MONEY MAKING PROJECTS
 
Elkhorn Antique Flea Market Concession Stand – We usually do four of these per year in the months of May, June, August and September.
 
Elkhorn Oktoberfest – We sell chili, run a great prize raffle and host a cornhole tournament in the courthouse square the thrid week of October!
 
Dueling Pianos Social event- We host a social evening with live dueling pianos, signing, dancing and raffles.
 
Pancake Breakfast event- We host a breakfast at the Elkhorn Area Middle School.
