BACK TO SCHOOL PROGRAM
August is right around the corner and with it thoughts turn towards going back to school! The Lions Club has participated in the Back To School program for nearly 20 years. Just think….the children we started with almost 20 years ago may already be done with high school and college!!! Well done!! This year, the program has changed significantly and the United Way no longer assigns individual students to volunteers participating in the program. While we are still voluntarily going to ask for your help with the Back To School project – we are modifying the request.
On Thursday, August 8, the night of the Steak Roast we are asking you to bring any donated school supplies. Items can range from backpacks, pencils, folders, crayons, colored pencils, glue sticks and composition notebooks. Monetary donations would also be accepted for this project!

Back To School - 18 Years And Counting!
What a project! Started in 2001, Lions have been enthusiastic backpack participants for 18 years! This year, we are supplying 3 youngsters from Park Avenue School with backpacks full of school supplies and a gift card for clothing.
Over the years, two very, very generous Lions (who wish to remain anonymous) have purchased the $100 gift cards for the students. They deserve our thanks and gratitude. It is so heartwarming to see our collective spirit come shining through. Thanks Joan Bielizna for assisting with the program and to Lion Jim Humphreville who “adopted” a student himself and Bob Young who filled two backpacks with lots of school supplies.
Thank you Lions. We will be collecting donations and supplies through the Steak Roast on August 9.
