Recently Joel Greene and Joyce Hamilton attended our meeting, and presented a check for $1000 from the Greene siblings, in honor of their Dad, Bill Greene, who was the charter president of our Club.

Previously we received $2000 from the Harold Hunter family from memorial donations. Lion Harold was also a charter member of our organization.

Members of the Columbus Junction Lions Club would like to thank the families of Lions Harold Hunter and Bill Greene for their recent generous financial gifts to our Club in memory of Lion Harold and Lion Bill.

The Columbus Junction Lions Club was chartered on February 29, 1980, with just over 60 new members. We have been involved with providing eyeglasses and hearing aids for those who can not afford the cost; delivered meals on wheels; cleaned ditches along Highway 92 for the Iowa DOT Adopt a Highway Project; regularly check and clean Chautauqua Park grounds; Iowa Lions KidSight, a screening program for youngsters between 6 months and 6 years old for visual impairments; blood drives; tree planting with Trees Forever; parking cars at Columbus football games; provide two annual scholarships to Columbus Community graduates; and many other projects over the years.

We have changed the location for our meeting to: Louisa County Ambulance Center, 105 Gamble Street here in Columbus Junction. This is due to the Covid19 pandemic which has temporarily closed the Columbus Junction Senior Center, which has been our regular meeting place. This has also caused the cancellation of our Breakfast fund raisers.
