Since 1949, the Clifton-Fine Lions have driven themselves to meet the challenge of the Lion motto “We Serve” by providing countless services to our community.

Every time you look at the televisions in our hospital, the trees outside the senior citizens housing project, or the Clifton-Fine Arena, you are looking at a Lions project. But there are many Lions projects few people ever see. Lions have bought glasses and readers for members of our community. Lions build ramps and loan hospital equipment. Lions buy food for the food pantry at the Youth Center. Lions sponsor an annual picnic and Christmas party for area senior citizens.

Since Helen Keller spoke at their International Convention, Lions have been “Knights of the Blind”. Through Lions Clubs International, the local Lions sponsor leader dog schools, eye clinics, and research into the leading causes of blindness. Lions pay for vitamins which prevent blindness in third world nations. Most Lions donate their eyes after their death so the eyes which served the less fortunate while they were alive can go on serving when they are gone.

In the jungle, the Lion is called the king of beasts. In our community, the Lions are your neighbors doing their best to make our community and world a little better.
