Welcome to Chepstow and Caldicot Lions

Our new homepage is your first stop for the very latest news, and activities going on in the club. We will be updating it more regularly than we have done before, and you'll want to come back more often as we'll be adding new things every month.

Lions 'Box for Living' appeal 2021

Every year at the run up to the festive season we run our main appeal. Last year we donated £3000 to two foodbanks in our area. This year we are focusing on young people who are leaving care at the age of 18.

Lions 'Box for Living' is an initiative operated in collaboration with Social Services, to provide local young people leaving care with a box of essential items to assist them in running their home, and helping to start living independently.

Please help us with this appeal by donating whatever you can here>

Chepstow and Caldicot Lions' 50th Anniversary

50 is a big number, isn't it? This year is our 50th, and to celebrate, our new Lion President, Denise Harrison committed to walking 50 miles in September. Not only did she smash the walking target but with YOUR help she also smashed her fundriasing target to the tune of 108% with the money donated will going to Sightsavers UK. You can still find out more and donate >>> Just Giving.

It's getting busy out there!

As we're back to face to face meetings for the most part, we have now set up a growing list of activities for the rest of the year. These include

  • running stalls at school fetes
  • involvement in fun days
  • supporting the arts festival
  • School programmes
  • and the plan is to expand on this list and get out into the community more often now that things are really starting to open up.

While we were in lockdown, like many charitable organisations we weren't fully able to get out serving and fundraising as we used to, and for that reason we launched a fully online contactless trio of ways that you can donate if you wanted to help with a financial donation.

We only have one environment

We only have one planet, one chance. Earlier this year we planted trees in Tintern, with thanks to a quantity of new lime tree whips donated by CGI IT Ltd and CarbonFootprint Ltd. When we contacted Monmouthshire County Council to find out where was best to plant them, the Green Infrastructure Planning team were delighted to receive these trees and arranged for us to plant them at Tintern Old Station, after they had to destroy some older trees at that location after being affected by ash dieback disease. Message in a Bottle

Walking Football Clubs, including those in our area, are now returning to play in Chepstow and Caldicot. As they do, players have been given a Message in a Bottle donated by this club. Message in a Bottle can save a life, and is recognised by Ambulance services, first responders, and the Walking Football Association. The bottle is designed to hold key medical details and contacts in case of an emergency. More
