Success story of Lions Club Chandigarh (HOST)
Lions Club Chandigarh was chartered in the year 1965 on February 11. The club came out with permanent project of Lions School for Deaf and Dumb children in the year 1978.
The building of the School for Deaf and Dumb children came into existence as a result of earnest collective efforts of Lion S.N.Kohli, Lion K.K.Sawhney, Lion K.S.Sandhu, Lion Umesh Batra, Lion B.K.Sood, Lion Harish Gupta and Lion Vijay Aggarwal along with other members. Since its inception, the school is delivering outstanding results. During the last 45 years of the school has rehabilitated more than 550 deaf and dumb childrens who are leading honorable life, today. Beside this permanent project, this club has rendered numerous humanitarian services to community of Chandigarh at large and to the down trodden in specific in the last 58 years of service. Lions Club Chandigarh Host was the first club in tricity of Chandigarh. Lions Club Chandigarh Host is the oldest Club of Lions District 321-F.
This club has always been pioneer and led the lions District 321-F by offering Three District Governors to the Lions International movement which includes MJF Lion K.S.Sandhu (1983-84), MJF Lion K.K.Sawhney (1991-92) and MJF Lion Anand Sawhney (2017-18) who have set many milestones in the Lions Movements.
MJF Lion K.K.Sawhney also led the Multiple District 321 as Multiple Council Chairman and Area Forum .The club has provided leadership to the Lions District 321-F. The club is having as many as 58 Past Presidents and dozens of Region Chairman’s and other District Chairman and largest number of Melvin Jones Fellow. In the year 2006-2007 has the proud privilege of being Number One Club in LCIF Contribution. The Club has sponsored the largest number of clubs in the District 321-F so far. Club has won many Leadership and Membership Awards in Lions International, Multiple 321 and District 321-F.
The club has grown with the City-Beautiful Chandigarh.
