Celebrating 103 Years of World-wide Service
"Serving the Community for 65 Years"
CLUB HISTORY
The Bridgewater Area Lions Club, sponsored by the Middleton Lions Club, received its charter on September 19th, 1955 At that time the club had 25 charter members. The club has sponsored new Lions Clubs in Mahone Bay Area and New Germany Area.
During the years our club has been very supportive of the local hospital, Lions Foundation of Nova Scotia, and the Lions Foundation of Canada (Dog Guides). We have participated in many youth, sight and diabetes programs at the local and provincial levels. Major contributions have been made to school programs at Pentz Elementary, Hebbville Academy, Bridgewater Elementary and Bridgewater Jr. School. We have assisted with the purchase of eyeglasses, hearing aids and helped many individuals with medical expenses. Whenever a social or health related need is identified our club rose to the occasion and assisted with expenses.
On other pages you will see more recent service projects, activities and major donations. We are pleased to have recently supported a zone project that raised $30,000 towards the cancer detecting stainer at the South Shore Regional Hospital.
