Service Activities

The Blacksburg Host Lions Club serves the Blacksburg community throught the year.  Some of our service projects include:

• Purchasing eyeglasses for qualified Blacksburg residents
• Supporting Leader Dogs for the Blind, in Rochester, Michigan
• Collecting and recycling used eyeglasses and hearing aids
• Working at the  Lions Eyeglass Recycling Inc., of Virginia
• Conducting sight screening in Montgomery County Public Schools
• Providing one time scholarships to Blacksburg HS students based on demonstrated academic, athletic, and leadership performance
• Sponsoring the Lions International Peace Poster Contest for Blacksburg Middle School students
• Maintaining eyeglass collection boxes at the following locations:

                  Blacksburg Community Center, Patrick Henry Dr

                  Blacksburg YMCA, North Main St

                  Blacksburg Eye Associates, 1440 South Main St

                  Drysdale Eye Center, 3645 South Main St

                  See Mark Optical, 2401 South Main St

                  Steve Jacobs, Optometry, 620 North Main St

                  University Opticians, 1807 South Main St
