THE LIONS MOTTO is “WE SERVE” which means that we are active in our community serving in a wide variety of way.
FAQ ABOUT THE BISMARCK LIONS CLUB
WHAT DO LIONS DO?
Since our club was organized in 1921, we have given back over $500,000 to the City of Bismarck and the World in support of community and youth initiatives.
- Collect eyeglasses that are distributed worldwide.
- Support Leader Dogs for the Blind and help pay the $35,000 cost of placing a leader dog with a person in need at no cost to the recipient. .
- Provide free eye exams and glasses for the less fortunate in our area.
- Volunteer and engage in many local non-profit agencies such as Ministries on the Margins, The Salvation Army, Papa's Pumpkin Patch, and Meals on Wheels.
WHAT’S THE COST TO JOIN?
- Our dues are $35 per quarter.
- Lunch at our weekly meetings is $10
- Many members choose to come for fellowship and to listen to our outstanding community speakers each week. Other members choose to only volunteer. Your level of involvement is up to you.

HOW MUCH OF MY TIME WILL IT TAKE?
You can get involved as much or as little as you wish. Some of our members just pay their dues and do little more. It’s their way of “giving back”. Others spend enjoy our weekly meetings and engaging speakers. Many members enjoy volunteering and serving doing Lions work.
HOW DO WE PAY FOR ALL THAT WE DO?
- We operated a grilled corn-on-the-cob food booth at the Capital A’Fair and Downtowners Street Fair
- We host an Annual Legend of LoftyGolf Tournament at Hawktree Golf Club
- We work at Papa’s Pumpkin Patch.
WHAT SERVICES DO WE PROVIDE IN THE COMMUNITY?
Annually
- Provide Food and Fellowship every Thursday at Ministry on the Margins
- Fund and Host an evening at The Banquet
- Deliver meals on Wheels
- Ring Bells for The Salvation Army
Capital Projects we have supported
- Lofty Spartan Studio - "green" room in Simle Middle School Library where the students can film their projects
- Helped to build two $10,000 shelters at the Lewis and Clark Interpretativ Center near Washburn.
- Lions Hillside Park in Bismarck
