              CLUB PROJECTS

  • Prepare ponds and ice surfaces for general public in December,  involving putting up advertising boards, benches and signage for 4, soon to be 6 ponds and take everything down in April. 

  • Care and maintenance of all ponds during entire winter cold months involving flooding, plowing snow, and general upkeep of ice surfaces approximately 3 months.

  • Host 4th Annual CFB Trenton Pond Hockey Classic in Batawa, plus do the food and beverage concessions for the 3 day tournament late in January.

  • Do the Vision Screening in 2-3 Elementary Schools in the area;   Batawa, Frankford, and Stockdale

  • Once a year host Trash Bash, around the 23rd of April, (Earth Day) one day clean-up of the community with the help of City of Quinte West, BBQ at noon and in the afternoon,  take down advertising boards, benches, and signage for skating ponds and store for the summer months until next winter.

  • Adopt a Road;  3 to 5 times a year. gather the garbage along a three km road, #33 highway.

  • Host a Batawa Community Yard Sale in May, to raise fund to support sending a handful of Kids to Summer or Winter Camps.

  • Community Food Drives;   twice a year, once just before Easter and then just before Thanksgiving, Batawa will have the Lions Club hand out plastic bands a few days prior to the event and a few days later gather these non perishable food items and take them to the local Frankford Food Pantry.  Last year, 2014, gathered over 800 lbs and delivered to the Frankford Food Bank.

  • Participate in the annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Batawa Ski Hill.

  • Participate in the Annual Wait & Ski races at the Batawa Ski Hill,  this past year finishing FIRST of five competing teams. 

  • Participate in the Annual Batawa Ski Hill Chilli Cook-off, the second year finishing first place.

  • Construction stage of building the Batawa Lions Club Natural Playground.  Previous playground had to be demolished and the club headed a committee to plan the replacement playground.  Huge project involving $240,000 and Phase 1 slated to be completed and officially opened in late June 2015.

  • Planning stage of hosting the First Annual Batawa Lions Club Golf Tournament to be held July 3rd, 2015 at Oak Hills Golf Course.  Flyers in the process of being printed, sent out within the next week and deadline for registration to be May 15th, 2015.
