The Lions organization was founded in Chicago, Illinois in 1917 by Melvin Jones. At the present time there are over 1,500,000 members in more than 44,500 clubs in over 207 countries and geographical areas.

Lions Clubs International serves people throughout the world. Globally, Lions clubs are known for their commitment to blindness prevention. They support Leader Dogs for the blind in Rochester, Michigan. This program provides guide dogs to visually impaired people, FREE OF CHARGE.

Second only to the Lions’ devotion to aiding the blind and visually impaired is a dedication to serving young people. The Lions-Quest program teaches Skills for Adolescence and targets character development, alcohol and drug prevention, service-learning, academic achievement, violence prevention, and much more.

ALL MONIES raised by Lions Clubs goes back into the communities to support international and local programs. Not One Dime of any money raised goes into administration expenses, it is all given back to worthy causes.
