RESIDENTIAL 911 REFLECTIVE ADDRESS

SIGNAGE PROJECT

A PROJECT OF THE

THE WILLIAMS LAKE LIONS CLUB

FOR YOUR SAFETY

In an emergency when every second counts, firefighters, police or medical emergency services may

lose critical time if they cannot locate your home. Despite recent advances in technology and

improvements in our 911 emergency dispatch system, there is a marked difference for emergency

personnel in being directed to an address and actually locating the residence. In an emergency, time

lost trying to locate the correct driveway can have a tragic result. You can help assure that you

receive emergency assistance in the shortest possible time by properly displaying large highly

reflective house numbers.

“If We Can’t Find You ….. We Can’t Help You”

Address signs posted in a uniform position, with highly visible reflective properties, allow the

appropriate emergency response team to find you as quickly as possible. Signs that are not reflective

or right beside the road may not be seen, especially at night or in bad weather conditions! (Please

refer to reverse for more information)

We have arranged to supply these signs for an incredibly reasonable price of $35.00 for single sided

and $50.00 for double-sided (taxes are included). The signs measure 8” high x 16” wide and are made

of engineer-grade aluminum with 5” black numbers on a white, highly reflective background. These

signs are quite easily seen in the daytime and at night, as well as during adverse weather conditions.

If you wish to help yourselves, the Williams Lake Lions and your local Volunteer Fire Department,

please fill in the order form below and drop it off (with your payment in either cash or cheque – made

out to the Williams Lake Lions Club) at one of the following locations Clarke's General Store -

Horsefly, 150 Mile Husky Lotto Center - 150 Mile House, Valley General Store - Likely, in

Williams Lake - Burgess Plumbing, Cool Clear Water, Schickworks and SpeedPro, by

. Signs should be ready for distribution by the end of August 2017. We will contact

you for pick up or arrange to help you install your sign if you should need some assistance with that.

All proceeds go to the Williams Lake Lions Club for local projects . If you have any questions, please feel free to call either Lions Bob Donker @

250-620-0503 or Lion Lional Burnier 250-398-5297.

Installing Your 911 Reflective House Number Sign

• The address sign should be placed in your yard, at the end of your driveway, perpendicular

to the road, not parallel.

• Locate your sign so that it may be read from the direction help may arrive. This may

require two signs, or a double-sided back-to-back sign, if help might arrive from another

direction.

• Your address sign should be located at your driveway entrance even if your residence can

be seen from the road.

• Homeowners on a private road or driveway with multiple homes on it need to be sure every

homeowner posts their house number on their branch of the driveway.

• Address signs should be mounted so that they will not be hit by a snowplow or obscured by

thrown snow or mud.

• Your sign should be installed high enough to avoid snow in winter and weeds in summer, but

not so high that it will not clearly reflect the lights of an emergency vehicle.

• Place your sign where it will remain unobstructed by brush, tree limbs, plantings, buildings or

parked vehicles, and be clearly visible from an emergency vehicle at a distance of 50

metres.

• If you plan on installing a post for your sign, you may want to install it before the ground

freezes. Just choose your location according to the above guidelines.

If you require assistance for any aspect of installing your sign, please call any of the following

and we will arrange for volunteers to come and help you!
