Lions ROAR

Volume 96 Issue 2

September 2, 2015 – Lion Badger

The title of my presentation is "The Scribes Are Back."  It is an examination of a few of the hair-splitting interpretations of the Establishment Clause in the First Amendment to our Constitution by the U. S. Supreme Court, along with an examination of a few of the flyspecking interpretations of fourth Commandment of the Decalogue, by the scribes of Israel and a comparison of uncanny similarities.

Ron Badger was graduated from Kansas University with a Juris Doctor decree sometime during the last century.  He was a law clerk for Arthur Stanley, Judge of the U. S. District Court for the District of Kansas and an attorney in the U. S. Department of Justice, assigned to the U. S. Attorney for Kansas, prior to practicing law in Wichita for the past 50 years.  He is a member of the Christian Legal Society and served as President of the Wichita Chapter for two years.  Until recently he served on the Ethics Committee of the Kansas Bar Association and the Wichita Bar Association.  He is married to Laura, has three children, seven grandchildren and zero great grandchildren, but that last number is expected to increase in the future.

September 16, 2015 – Jeff Fluhr

As President of the Wichita Downtown Development Corporation (WDDC), Jeff Fluhr is responsible for carrying out the mission of the WDDC to strengthen Downtown Wichita as “the heart of the region”. In this capacity, he works closely with the WDDC Board of Directors, private sector partners and local government to stimulate new investment and interest in Downtown Wichita.

Prior to leading the WDDC, Jeff served as the Assistant Executive Director of the City of Baton Rouge Downtown Development District from 1992-2008. During his tenure, Jeff was instrumental in the implementation of approximately one billion dollars of private and public sector investment.

Jeff holds a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Kentucky and a master’s degree in landscape architecture from Louisiana State University.

He is actively involved in the local community. He serves on various boards including: Wichita Chamber of Commerce, Go Wichita, the International Downtown Association and the Wichita Community Foundation.
