WHAT ARE LIONS CLUBS ALL ABOUT?

Service is the driving force behind our organization's success.  Since 1920 Lions clubs have offered people the opportunity to give something back to their communities, from involving members in projects as local as cleaning up an area park, or as far reaching as bringing sight to the world's blind.  Lions clubs have always embraced those committed to building a brighter future for their community.

Today, more than 1.35 million men and women from 200 countries and geographical locations around the world have expanded their focus to help meet the ever increasing needs of our global community.  Our faces and our programs may have changed to meet new needs and greater demands, but our mission has never wavered:  "We Serve." and, as the world's largest community service organization, 100 percent of all fund received from the public are returned to the public through community projects and service.  Membership fees pay off administrative needs.  Never are any of the funds used for the purpose of the clubs administrative needs.

What do Lions really do?

The word LIONS = LOVING INDIVIDUALS OFFERING NEEDED SERVICES.

We provide eyeglasses & exams for those in need, eye surgery, guide dogs for the blind, hearing dogs for the deaf, medicine and food during disasters, cornea transplants, support the Eye & Tissue Banks and other organs, operate camps for visually impaired children, volunteer at Special Olympics, provide scholarships to disabled college students, provide screening for glaucoma & diabetes, operate community health fairs, operate Sight First to eliminate 80% of blindness worldwide, and the Back to School Shopping Spree for underprivileged children.
