“Lend a Hand” is a charity programme that communicates to our service projects journey for children who are in need of our unconditional care and compassion.

Our aim is to improve the lives of less privileged children in Sri Lanka and help them reach their future potential in life.

This journey will continue in furthering their needs in various way such as: health screenings, provision of eyeglasses, hearing aids, toy and clothing collections, school bags, copy books, stationaries and pay school fees. Also we will be providing sport items and musical instrument to empower individual talents.

Club Members are very supportive towards this process and actively participating in sponsoring children in need by making individual donations and volunteering their time to support.

Project No. 03 - 31st October 2014

This “Lend a Hand” journey will continue in furthering children needs in various ways by showing Welisara Lions unconditional care & compassion. Master Heshan Dananjaya Fernando is a 15 years old student of Christ King College – Thedella. He is the eldest with two younger sisters by living only from his father’s lower income. Master Heshan developed his talent enough to select for college 1st eleven team at the age of 15 while continuing his studies fairly. For this achievements he used a pair of canvas shoes which not suitable for cricket matches.

With the sincere contribution of Welisara Lion Club members, donated a pair of branded cricket shoes worth of Rs.5,000 and help him to reach his future potential in life. Welisara Club President Lion Yasas Ariyaratne and concept initiator Lion Sampath Muthukumarana presents at the picture.

 

Project No. 02 - 20th September 2014

Continuing the humanitarian service project journey, under the “Lend a Hand” charity program aided another children with unconditional compassion.

Commemorating the visit of International President Lion Joe Preston, this project conducted on Saturday, 20th at the Air Force Ground Colombo 02.

Oshadhi Saumya is a seven year old girl, studding at Kolonnawa Balika Vidhyalaya, Wellampitiya. Who is good in studding, and her family is trying to overcome the poverty. By lending a hand for a better tomorrow club donated a school bag filled with copy books and stationeries.

Project No. 01 - 16th August 2014

As a first step a pair of school shoes & electronic tool kit for a grade nine student of J B Senanayaka Maha Vidyalaya – Ekala was donated under the “Lend a Hand” charity programme who was living only with his mother who works in a textile garment as a machine operator who is looking after her disable mother and mentally unstable brother.

Project was launched at the presence of Zone Chairpersons on 16th August 2014 by handing over a pair of school shoes and electronic tool kit by Deshamanya Lion Dr. Jeewantha Perera. President Lion Yasas R Ariyaratne, Secretary Lion Hemantha and concept initiator Lion Sampath Muthukumarana also participated at the occasion.
