Our May 13th meeting is being held at the Waynesboro Country Club beginning at 6:00 p.m. Our program will be presented by Mr. Eric Childers who will be speaking on Elder Law. As we are becoming more “seasoned” individuals there are aspects of legal life we may have overlooked or forgotten!
The meal special for this meeting is meatloaf with tangy BBQ sauce, jumbo baked potato and candied carrots. When making your reservation with Secretary Lion Sandy, please let her know if you plan to order the specials.
At our April Board meeting, we discussed having another fundraiser at the Pizza Hut in the month of October. We are also planning to have another “Cash Bash” in November.
Our proceeds for the Pizza Hut fundraiser were $222.23 which is great for two hours of work and little effort on our part. They are willing to have us “as much as we would like!” Thanks to the Lions Club members who handed out the Pizza Hut flyers during the event and enjoyed the buffet that evening.
Our “10 days of April Showers” cash bash went very well. We had an income of $2,000.00. Our winners were: Sharon Byers; Kenny Lemmon, Jr; Linda Rock; Bonnie Bachtell; Kim Crundon; Candy Moffatt; Matt Stewart and Buck Worthy. Two of the winning number tickets were unsold. Bonnie Bachtell and Buck Worthy donated their winnings back to the Lions Club. Our net profit was $1,300.00. I thank the members who sold tickets for the “Cash Bash.” When we have the tickets for the November fundraiser, each member will be given 5 to sell.
Lion Karey still has tickets for our Fat Russ’ BBQ fundraiser on May 16. We will need volunteers to work that day, as well.
We will have another “Who is this Lion” contest this month. Lion Linda Rock was last month’s “Who is this Lion” and we had several Lions correctly identify her. Lion Chuck is winning the competition with six wins, Lion Karey Singley has four wins, Lions Ruth Angle, Jim Eles, Sandy Eisenhard, Dave McCarney and Sherry Newcomer have three wins and Lions Bonnie Benshoff, Linda Rock and Matt Stewart have two wins and Lion Dan Harper has one win.
