READY TO HELP

Whenever a Lions Club gets together, problems get smaller, and communities get better.  That's because we help where help is needed -- in our own communities and around the world -- with unmatched integrity and energy.  With over 46,000 Lions Clubs in over 200 countries around the world, LIONS is the world's largest service club organization.

WE SERVE

Because we are local, we serve the unique needs of the communities where we live.  And because we are global, we can address challenges that go beyond borders.  Our motto is:   WE SERVE.

The WAUKEGAN LITTLE FORT LIONS CLUB was founded in 1973 (see history).  We have addressed many community needs over our history.  Our recent efforts in 2017-18 include:

  • Purchase of classroom HEARING AMPLIFICATION EQUIPMENT for special needs classes in the Waukegan schools ( $4746 ).
  • Partnering with the City Of Waukegan "Centennial Legacy Beautification Project" for clean-up efforts of the bluff below Paravonian Park along Sheridan Road         ($ 6800 donation).
  • Providing exams, glasses and hearing aids to low income students and senior citizens ($2950 ).
  • Annual sponsorship of four Waukegan High School students to attend the annual  WORLD AFFAIRS SEMINAR  at Carroll University, where students from around the world interact with global issues ( $ 2560 / year ).
  • LIONS CHRISTMAS PARTY FOR DIVERSE LEARNERS:  Annual holiday party for visually and hearing impaired students in the Waukegan schools:  bowling, gifts, pizza party, balloon creations, and a visit from Santa.
  • April EARTH DAY Clean-up:  Assisting students and staff with school grounds clean-up at 6 Waukegan schools, including supplies, awards, and recognition party.
  • October CANDY DAYS fundraiser at local businesses to support state and local services for the visually and hearing impaired.
  • Donations to LIONS OF ILLINOIS for their "Seeing is Believing" and other projects, as well as donations of used glasses and hearing aids for state and international distribution.
