Our Club

Originally chartered as the Lions Club of Warrenton on October 30, 1939, the Warrenton Lions Club held its first meeting at the Centre District High School on December 15th with 26 members.  In December of 1989, the Club's character changed just a little as women were accepted into membership for the first time.  We now have many couples enjoying working together in service.  Our Club is appreciative of the community and business support that has always been strong.

Current Projects

Some current fund raising activities include program and pin sales at the Gold Cup Races, sales of White House Christmas ornaments, support staff for events at Great Meadows Foundation activities, and of course broom sales at the Warrenton Spring Festival and the Home and Garden Show.  All Lions donate their time, so every penny raised from the community goes back into the community.

Lions Collaboration

All of you are aware that the primary responsibility for members of the International Lions is to support Sight and Hearing related issues.

The beginning of the school year marks the beginning of the Sight and Hearing Testing program for students of all of the schools desiring to participate in this effort. Screening is accomplished with portable devices for the testing of Sight and Hearing and with the well-known Sight and Hearing van.

Of the 3102 tested, 330 were referred to various ophthalmologist in their particular area and 239 were referred for additional testing by qualified Hearing professionals.

The testing is done by the Warrenton and Remington Lions Clubs.

Member Recognition

Don Akers receiving the Lifetime Membership plaque recognizing his donation to the Canine Companion Program. Presentation conducted by Nancy LaGasse from Culpeper 92 Lions Club and John Beere from the Manassas Host Lions Club.

Partnerships

Every year The Warrenton Lions Club sells White House ornaments to raise funds for various charity work within our community. Through the kindness of Mr. Rankin and his staff we were able to sell Christmas ornaments at both the furniture and hardware store.

The hardware store has most items you may need for most home repair projects. They carry anything from automotive and building projects as well as lawn and garden, mulch, sand and many more.

The Furniture store is family owned and operated and they stock as much “Made in America” products as possible.
