PLASTIC BAG MISSION

The Wallington Lions Club is a local Charitable Organization and has been assisting individuals and organizations involved in helping the blind and visually impaired with our surrounding communities for over 67 years. We also were challenged by the governor of the North Jersey District to get involved in an environmental project as a Club function. The club as a whole chose to keep no less than 500 pounds of plastic out of our oceans as plastic bags and plastic labels have been found in bellies of deceased marine life more frequently over the past several years. The plastic bags we collect will be sent to an American factory called Trex that recycles them into decking material and outdoor furniture. I have a Collection Box set up in the Lunchroom at 370 Market St. if anyone would like to help us reach our goal.  Items to be collected include plastic shopping bags, water/soda bottle labels ONLY, newspaper sleeves, dry cleaning coverings, bread bags, etc. Our club meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday every month and I will collect the bags from the box those days. I’d like to in advance thank Johnstone for the opportunity to help us with this mission and anyone who recycles the items for us.

 A WIN-WIN-WIN SITUATION

When you donate your unwanted plastic materials to Wallington Lions, not only are you helping to keep hundreds of pounds of waste out of landfills and oceans, you're also helping an American manufacturing company to continue to create beautiful and environmentally responsible outdoor products and jobs for Americans.
