Lions Park - Burrill Lake

Lions Park Burrill Lakes is on one Shoalhaven City Council's Icon Parks. All amenities in the park have been completed by Lions volunteers under a Master Plan agreed by Council and Lions. This park is extremely popular with tourists and local visitors of all ages. Within Lions Park our volunteers have:

Lions Work to Improve Eyesight

In 1925, Helen Keller challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness." And we accepted. Today, sight programs remain one of our defining causes.

The Ulladulla Milton Lions Club annually contributes funds to the Lions Sightfirst campaign. The club also recycles used spectacles [over 2,500 pair each year].Through efforts like these, Lions have gained worldwide recognition for our work to improvesight:

We recycle glasses at 17centers worldwide.

  • We operate Lions Eye Banks that provide eye tissue for sight-savingsurgeries.
  • We screen the vision of hundreds of thousands of people every year.
  • We provide treatment to those at risk of losing their sight.
  • We support programs like SightFirst and Campaign SightFirst II that have:

    • Improved eye care services for hundreds of millions.
    • Prevented serious vision loss for more than 30 million.
    • Provided more than 7 million cataract surgeries.
    • Distributed more than 130 million treatments for river blindness.
    • Established or strengthened 35 pediatric eye care centers that have helped more than 110 million children.
