THIRSK AND NORTHALLERTON LIONS CLUB (CIO), Registered Charity 1174511

Lions Clubs International was founded by Melvin Jones on 7 June 1917 in Chicago.  His vision was to create an international organisation inspired by the philosophy of unselfish service, helping, assisting and improving the lives of those in need.

Whilst being part of a large international organisation each club is actually very individual.  We meet once a month for a business meeting.  There is a very short formal part at the start of the meeting where we remind ourselves of the ethics and objectives of Lions Clubs International.  After that it is very mush up to the members how the meeting develops.  As a member of Lions International we follow their motto of 'We Serve'.  This could be by doing something practical to help the needy, raising money by a street collection or by driving a mini bus.  Members decide which Charities they will support, and one of the great things about the organisation is that every penny we raise goes to good causes.

MEDIC ALERT

 A Lions Sponsered Charity

How MedicAlert emblems work

MedicAlert provides vital details in an emergency... because every moment matters. We support members with a wide range of medical conditions and allergies, which we help them to describe on a custom made emblem. MedicAlert also keeps secure, detailed medical records for our members which can be updated at any time. This information can be accessed in an emergency, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from anywhere in the world, using our emergency telephone number and we are able to converse in over 100 languages.

MedicAlert emblems not only give you peace of mind, but also a sense of independence knowing that your conditions or wishes will be known in an emergency.
