Meetings

Lions serve. It’s that simple, and it has been since we first began in 1917. Our clubs are places where individuals join together to give their valuable time and effort to improving their communities, and the world. Our history is a long one. And a proud one. For over 100 years men and women were guided by kindness and we’ve served with uncommon kindness, putting the needs of our neighbors, our communities and our world first. We look back at our storied past with pride, but we know it’s only the beginning. Every day, we’re building on our legacy with the goal of making an even greater impact in the future.

The Thamesford Lions usually meet on the first Monday for a dinner meeting with a guest speaker, The second Monday, the executives meet and the third Monday of the month for our business meeting.

Individuals from the community can become a member if they show interest and can commit to 2-3 events or meetings. Lions pay a yearly due and can enjoy these benefits when becoming a member:

  1. The fun and fellowship – Service isn’t just meaningful. It’s fun. We build new friendships in our clubs and new connections in our communities. We laugh. We bond. We serve, and we do it with a smile and an open heart.

  2. Opportunities to lead – Lions are leaders in their community, organizing projects that meet real needs. And you have opportunities to become a club officer so you can put your leadership skills to work for your club.

  3. Tools to put your kindness in action – A great project takes great planning.

  4. You get when you give – Did you know that helping others actually helps you? Volunteering improves our happiness, health and sense of well-being, and decreases symptoms of depression. Giving is a win-win!

  5. That ah-ha moment – Every Lion joins a club, but every member has a story about the moment they truly became a Lion. That day when you helped someone who had nowhere else to turn. The tears of joy. The heartfelt thanks. The hope you restored through your kindness. That’s why we’re Lions.
