- Distribution of uniforms and books:
Lions club of Thalavady has distributed uniforms and books to the less fortunate students of Government High School, Thalavady in June-2012. This has benefitted more than 50 poor students in the school.
- Medical camps:
Free medical camps were conducted with the help of eminent doctors and pharmaseutical organisations to the needy patients. More than 300 people have attended the medical camps.
- Contribution of free food materials and clothes:
Free food materials like wheat flour, sugar, tea packets, coffee powder etc were given along with clothes for the inmates of 'Sneha Sadan', an orphanage run by a charitable organisation here.
- Distribution of free medical cards
Actively participated in the distribution of free medical cards proposed by the Lions District authorities in 2011-12. The scheme has been widely acknowledged because of its benefit to the needy and poor patients.
- Donation of a fund for playing equipments
An amount of Rs 3000/-(Rupees Three thousand) was given to a local nursery and primary school to eneable them to purchase playing equipments for the students in 2012-13.
- Construction of bus shelter for commuters.
The club has planned for constructing a bus shelter/ waiting shed at Neerattupuram junction to benefit hundreds of passengers and pilgrims of Chakkulathu kavu temple. Founadation stone has been laid on 26.01.2013 by Smt. Lali Alex, Thalavady Panchayath member.
- Financial aid to cancer and kidney patients.
The club has donated a small amount of Rs. 2,500/-on 15-03-2013 to a cancer patient residing in Thalavady south as a financial aid to meet his immediate expenses. The club has donated a cheque for Rs. 10,000/- to a kidney patient for undergoing kidney transplantation sugery on 25-07-2013. A cancer patient in the locality was given a cheque for Rs. 5,000/- by the club for his treatment on 21.08.2013.
- Tour by club members to Ponmudi and Kovalam.
The club has arranged a two days tour to Ponmudi on 22-08-13 and 23-08-13 participating the members. Ponmudi is a hill station famous for its flora and fauna. The group has also visited Neyyar dam and Kovalam beach during the tour. The picnic has enabled to boost the ties and unity among the club members.
- Medical Team for Pampa boat race at Neerattupuram.
Assistance of a medical team was provided by the Lions club of Thalavady for the famous Pampa Boat race at Neerattupuram on 16.09.2013 under the leadership of Ln Dr. P.S Venugopal. First Aid service was also extended by the team for the needy people during the event. Regional chairman MJF Ln. Suresh James and Zone chairperson Ln. Thomaskutty also have attended the function.
- Teenager's awareness class.
A teenager's awareness class was conducted by the club at Govt High School thalavady on 19.10.2013. Renowned clinical psychologist Dr. Hari.S. Chandran has given a lecture to educate the participants about facing the challenges confidently. The class was attended by plus one and plus two students (240) of the school and teachers. It was appreciated by the school principal and faculty as well.
- 'Breathe free' Medical camp.
Breathe Free medical camp was held in a remote locality of Thalavady Panchayath with the assistance of medical team provided by Cipla and ADS team of the panchayath tenth ward. The medical team was headed by Dr. Umesh Kumar, M.D and he was assisted by Dr. Vinod VMG, M.D. Much needed help was given by The ward member and standing committee chairman Mr. Joji Abraham. The camp has benefitted more than 125 persons in the village.
- Observed World environment day on June 5th.
Distributed more than 5,000 plants and saplings to the villagers freely with the active co-opertion of Kerala forest dept and Edathua Grama Panchayath on June 5th 2014. A seminar was also conducted to create awareness of the importance of afforestation and environment protection among the villagers assembled.
- Medical camp for diabetic detection and treatment.
Lions club of Thalavady has organised a medical camp at Kochammanam, Thalavady for the detection and treatment of diabetes. It has helped more than 200 patients in the locality who received all sort of help from a group of doctors from Medical mission Hospital Thiruvalla. More than 15 units of diabetes detection kit were also distributed in the camp. Members of Nizhal Kala samskarika vedi also have co-operated for conducting the camp successfully.
- Provided ceiling fans to Govt. school at Thalavady.
Ceiling fans were donated to the local government primary school at Anaprampal as requested by PTA and scholl faculty members on 16th June 2014.
- Provided financial assistance to a poor student of Govt High School.
As a financial help to pursue her higher studies, an amount of Rs. 5,000/- was given to Ms. Remya Santosh who scored grade A+ in all the subjects in the last class X examination. The assistance was given during the installation ceremony of the office bearers of the lionistic year 2014-15 at Hotel Tharavadu, Podiyadi.
