Since 1951 the Lions Club of Swarthmore has been bringing people together in community service.

A chapter of the largest service organization in the world (Lions Clubs International http://www.lionsclubs.org), is focused on work with the blind and less fortunate.

The Swarthmore Lions have been happy to continue our traditions of service in many ways:

With Children
Our annual community events are a beloved part of Swarthmore's venerable traditions: ribbons and trophies from our events are treasured and wrapped in memories that live on.

With the Visually Impaired Community
At our eyeglass drop-box located next to the PNC Bank we collect used eyeglasses which are reconditioned and are put back into use locally and internationally for the visually impaired.

With Our Local Community
We coordinate and deliver Holiday Food Baskets containing a complete dinner to many Delaware County households in need. We also respond to individual requests for assistance from neighbors in crisis.

With Our Town
The Swarthmore Lions Independence Eve 8k Run & 2.5 Mile Walk is a US Track and Field certified scenic course. We organize the Swarthmore Fun Fair 5K Race held each spring by the Swarthmore Rotary Club. Proceeds from our events support Lions charities and charitable work around the globe.

With Youth
We sponsor the Ridley Leos Club, a High School aged group that shares Lions vision. These students create their own services projects to help others while developing leadership skills and community awareness.

Some of our Annual Events:
Spring Egg Hunt
Independence Eve 8K Fun Run and 2/5 Mile Walk
4th of July Children's Parade
The Annual Lions Club Halloween Parade
Holiday Food Baskets

Join us at one of our regular meetings (September through June, 2nd and 4th Tuesday nights - 7PM at the Swarthmore Community Center, 2nd Floor) or just come up to any one of us at an event or town function. We'd love to have you join us as we serve others. Our non-denominational, co-ed organization is a great way to show your entire family that serving the community is both rewarding and fulfilling.
