AED Training - April 3, 2018 Meeting (Automated External Defibrillators)

Presented by St. Boni Fire Chief Shane Weber

A very informative evening training presented by St. Boni Fire Chief Shane Weber.

A large group of attendees, St. Lions, St. Boniface Knights of Columbus and Legion watched a 30 minute presentation on the proper use of AEDs. Many in the crowd were surprised that the AED device would actually "Talk" you through the life-saving procedure, including the device knowing when to and when not to provide a heart restart charge to the person being treated.

Thank you Shane for the informative presentation!

St. Boni Lions Donate to WeCAN

Members of the St. Boni Lions Club graciously donated $1,000 to WeCAN for the holiday gift program this year. In addition, the Lions donated five live trees from their tree lot, located at Superior Expressions in St. Boni through the Christmas holiday. WeCAN is grateful for the Lions’ support in making the community a better place to live. For more information on WeCAN, call 952-472-0742 or visit wecanmn.org. Here is a Sample of What We as a Lions Club Did Last Year to Serve!

The St. Bonifacius Lions have donated funds to the following places or causes: Diabetes Foundation, Alzheimer Association, Lions Hearing Foundation, Lions Leader Dog Foundation, Lions Vision Foundation, MNCan Aphasia Group, Ronald McDonald House, Minnesota Lions Eye Bank, Kristen Moegenburg and Zack Eder Cancer Benefits, Relay for Life (fight back against cancer), Salvation Army Red Kettle, Secret Santa, Lions Club International to help fund disaster relief and other worthy causes supported by Lions International, and both Waconia and Westonka local food shelves which support local families in desperate need of good and healthy food.

We have partnered with other Lions in a successful fundraisers for our own Lion members in great need. We again helped maintain and clean our city parks, repairing many things in those parks and ball fields, along with funding to properly maintain our planted flower and shrub beds by the city sign and office.

We have in the past repaired and helped get the Christmas lights ready for our city. We periodically clean two miles of State Highway 7 of the most interesting garbage. We give away three $1,000 scholarships each year to three deserving high school graduates. We promoted good will by working at, supporting and donating funds to the city’s NATIONAL NIGHT OUT evening.

We continue to maintain a huge Lion presence and participation in our area!

We annually support our City’s effort to maintain a wonderful city-wide festival called Spass-Tagen and once again showed how committed we are to involve our club in the community and efforts related to it. Our club donated to the City Wellness Challenge. For the holidays, every November through December we put in numerous volunteer hours at our club’s famous Christmas tree lot on Highway 7; this year being our 45th year! This is our largest fundraiser to contribute to those folks in need, along with continuing to do many other great things in our city. To show our appreciation for what they do, we donated to the Minnetrista Police Department and the St. Bonifacius Fire Department, along with our club sponsoring “Thank You” dinners for both organizations. In addition to those high-valued area efforts, our Lions group also periodically helps at FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN in Chanhassen to help feed hungry children and people around the world.

We are awesome and we have no limits of what we can accomplish together!
