The Springdale-Forest Park Lions Club was chartered in November, 1957 and was originally named Springdale Lions Club. We currently are an active club consisting of 19 members. Over the last fifty years, the club has participated in a variety of fund raisers such as: sponsoring a circus, pancake suppers, and selling the following: brooms, light bulbs, fertilizer, halloween candy, entertainment books, various kind of flowers  and many other items. Currently, our main fund raisers are: White Cane Days, a Pancake Breakfast and booths at various events. Over the years, our service projects have included eyeglasses and exams, glaucoma screenings, diabetes screenings, youth projects including scholarships, Eddie Eyeglasses, G.O.O.D. Program, and Peace Poster Contests, loaning hospital equipment such as wheelchairs, beds, etc., supporting all state and district Lions projects, as well as the Cincinnati Association for the Blind, Radio Reading Services, Tri-County SOUL Ministries, Camp Echoing Hills, and the Clovernook School for the Blind. Our club has produced three District Governors all of which are deceased: PDG John Shellenberger, PDG Larry Reid, and his wife PDG Debra Reid. Also there have been many other members who have served District 13-H and the State Lions in various capacities. The club celebrated its Fiftieth Anniversary Charter Night on October 28, 2007 at Dave & Buster's.
