Meetings

Welcome to the Skowhegan Lions Home Page.

Skowhegan Lions have been in service since 1935. Our membership is up and down from 35 members. We have four family units, along with many women joining our ranks.

The club has supported five district governors in our 75 years, and was a Campaign Sight First II Model club in 2007-2008. The club also has eighteen Melvin Jones Fellows.

Our actvities range from basket bingos to feeding 1300 members of the American Public Works Association the first Thursday of June every year.

On the first Friday of May you will see us at the Skowhegan High School track feeding over 100 people during the Special Olympics games.

On the first Tuesday of Riverfest in August, you will see Lions dowtown, near the Chamber of Commerce Building, cooking chicken for one of the two seatings on that day. The Skowhegan Community Band will play during the evening seating and the diners can view a multitude of special interest cards at the Classic Car Cruise in.

During the ten days of Skowhegan Fair in August, you will see Lions again feeding fairgoers from the booth off the midway. Our fare ranges from hamburgers and hot doge to home cooked meals of beef ribs, chicken parmesean, meatloaf and gravy with mashed potatoes and green beans, lasagna, macaroni and cheese with red hot dogs, and spaghetti and meatballs. No one ever goes away hungry.

At Christmas time, we sponsor a talking tree during the Holiday Stroll in downtown Skowhegan. The kids love to ask the tree all sorts of interesting questions.

We furnish all or part of the costs of eyeglasses for more than seventy people a year.

All proceeds raised during the bulk of these function pay for four scholarships for graduating seniors from two high schools, eyeglasses, sponsoring a boy scout troop,  supporting Boys'/Girls State yearly, and donations to LCI.

Please join us at one of our meetings! We meet at the Heritage House, 182 Madison Ave, Skowhegan at 6:15 PM every first and third Monday of the month.

All are welcome.
