Skegness Lions 5m sponsored walk for charity
7 members of Skegness Lions walked from Anchor Lane Ingoldmells to SeaView Road, Skegness along the sea front on 18 August 2016.   Arriving early before the starting time, one of our member suggested we sit outside the Anchor Pub and enjoy a glass of beer or cola 'to give us some energy'!   What an excuse!

It was pleasant walking along the promenade, the weather being lovely and sunny but not too hot, and the time went quickly as we chatted amongst ourselves.   It took us an hour and a half and we were all starving by the time we reached the end of route, at SeaView Fisheries in Skegness.

Sponsor money will be collected in at September meeting and we'll have more news of the charity we supported in due course.

Although we were fund raising for a good cause, the Lions enjoy a great social life too.  It's a good job this wasn't a 'healthy' sponsored walk with beer to start and ending with fish and chips - but a good time was enjoyed by all.

Other members of Skegness Lions joined us at the SeaView Fisheries for a social evening and we were all of the opinion it was a good event.  We will log our combined 35 miles for the Radio Lincolnshire's walk a million miles campaign.  See our photo gallery for pictures.

Skegness Carnival and 999 day
A week of events starting with the Carnival Parade attracts many locals and holidaymakers to Skegness every year in August.  The Skegness Lions manned the teddy stall in Tower Gardens and raised money for worthy causes.  The 999 day on the pier field, where children and adults have a chance to ride in a fire engine, speak to the local police, enjoy a few fairground rides and visit the many stalls, and once again our Skegness Lions had a teddy stall, raising over £500 for local and national charities over the two days.

Thank you to Christina for taking photos for coverage in the local press, to Radio Lincolnshire for promoting our events and to Andrew at County Linx Radio for interviewing one of our Lion members on our fund raising events.
