History of Sioux Land Lions

Sioux Falls Downtown Lions sponsored and organized the Sioux Land Lions Club in March 28, 1958.  There were 50 members at that time and the late PID Al Schock was International director at the time.

Over the years, this club enjoyed golf outings, sponsored softball teams, constructed a dock at the YMCA Camp at Big Stone Lake and sold Christmas Trees.  The Club raised $6,000 for the flood in Rapid City.

Sioux Land chartered the Siouxrise Lions in 1970. They also helped to re-charter the Harrisburg Lions in 1986.

Today we have 24 members. Our Club has four recycling sheds for aluminum cans, sells large coloring books and has a raffle.  We preform vision screenings for children, collect and clean glasses to send on mission trips. We play Bingo at nursing homes and help at feeding organizations.

Meetings are on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month.  Start at 6:30 PM

Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.
