Our marque programs are briefly summarized below.

Lions Camp Jack

The Lions of San Diego partnered with Whispering Winds to conduct Lions Camp Jack in the scenic mountains of the Cleveland National Forest. In the summer of 2023, 72 youth will be able to attend the 6-day camp from 2 to 7 July.  During the week, the Campers had a chance to enjoy the outdoors, swim, hike, and participate in many other activities.

Volunteers from the Downtown San Diego Lions Club, El Cajon Valley Host Lions Club, San Diego North Park Lions Club, and Spring Valley Lions Club all worked together to make this an awesome experience.

On Wednesday, the Camp hosted ‘Jack Wyatt Day’ and Lions from the El Cajon Valley Host Lions Club will host the Campers for a day on the lake where they were able to go boating and fishing.  In the summer of 2022, the Campers and Lions caught a record 27 fish.

Lions High School Baseball Tournament

The Lions High School Baseball Tournament is the oldest and largest High School Tourney in the United States. Founded by Mike Morrow and Les Cassie in 1951, the tournament has been held, rain or shine, every year since!

The increased participation in the Baseball Tournament requires six levels of completion governed by school enrollment and that continues today. The tournament has become a hallmark of San Diego baseball and many Major League stars have grown out of the competition!

Today, the San Diego Lions Tournament is ranked as the fourth best in the nation just behind the Boras Tourney and the National Invitational in South Carolina and MaxPreps ranked the tournament number five in the United States.

Downtown San Diego Lions Club Scholarship Fund

The Lions Club provides scholarship assistance to students graduating from Hoover, Garfield, Kearny, Lincoln, Monarch, Touissant, Twain, Gompers, and San Diego High Schools. These high schools are in the geographical operating area of the Downtown San Diego Lions Club. Scholarships assist students in pursuing education at a vocational school, community college, or college of their choice.
