Meetings

Part of the Royal Oak Lions Club Strategic Plan was to get more involved in our community.  Events that illustrate this involvement are:

Walk a Mile in her Shoes--Women's Sexual Assault Centre

Two Lions in our new red golf shirts with toe nails painted red walked in the "Walk a Mile in her Shoes" event to raise funds for the Women's Sexual Assault Center and raised over $1100.

October 2012, the Royal Oak Lions Club donated a Power Point Projector to the Greater Victoria Women's Sexual Assault Centre.

Kidney Foundation of British Columbia

The Royal Oak Lions Club is a "Bronze Sponsor" of the Kidney Foundation of British Columbia's walk on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Clover Point.  This $500.00 donation helps to run the walk and assists the Kidney Foundation of British Columbia in their important contributions to the citizens of British Columbia.

Emergency Preparedness Workshop

The Royal Oak Lions Club is supporting the Emergency Preparedness Workshop presented by Saanich Emergency Services on February 18, 2013 being held at the Royal Oak Middle School at 7 pm.  The Royal Oak Lions Club will provide the tea, coffee and goodies for this event.

"Inclusion not Exclusion"

The Royal Oak Lions Club is supporting a performing arts production on May 1-3, entitled "Inclusion not Exclusion" to expand school aged children to expand their understanding of multiculturalism.  The production talks about belonging in our communities, as well as discusses inclusion issues faced by children who go to our schools and belong in our society.  Our funding helps transport over 2,500 students to this production.

Peninsula Streams

The Royal Oak Lions Club has donated funds to Peninsula Streams so that school students can be involved in improving our habitat.  These funds will be used to buy gloves and hand tools for students to use in this endeavour.  Peninsula Streams help to protect and clean up the habitat of Saanich.

Camp Shawnigan

The Royal Oak Lions Club spent a day removing two Industial dryers from the gym basement and enclosing the wall.  It was a big job as the dryers were too big to go out of the doors so they had to be taken apart.  35 Lions hours were involved.

RCMP Musical Ride--August, 2013

The Royal Oak Lions Club with the other Lions and Lioness Clubs sponsored the RCMP Musical Ride.  The Royal Oak Lions Club involvement was cooking its delicious "buttered corn on the cob."  Funds raised were to assist the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities Camp Shawnigan and the Theraputic Riding Organization.
