Welcome Letter

The Riverside Township Lions Club was established in 1948 as a part of Lions International to serve our Township communities.

Lions International Clubs have over 1.3 million members. Our local club is one of more than 45,000 clubs in 205 countries providing humanitarian services worldwide.

Our local Lions meet monthly to maintain fellowship and address our local charitable and community service activities.

We sponsor a Chicken Dinner, participate in Lions Candy Day, and conduct a raffle in conjunction with Riverside’s Fourth of July celebration to fund our philanthropic activities.

Riverside Township Lions Club supports many charitable organizations serving the blind and deaf, as well as disabled children and adults who have special needs.

We provide funds to the North Riverside and Riverside Public Libraries so they can purchase special needs items like large print books as well as audio and video equipment to better serve those with sight and hearing difficulties.

You may have seen our Lions Club eyeglass and hearing aid collection boxes at church or local business establishments. Our club collects over 1,700 used eyeglasses and hearing aids annually, which are refurbished, and then, as part of a Lions International program, are provided free to people throughout the world who are unable to afford them.

Riverside Township Lions Club periodically provides hearing, vision, and skin cancer screenings, which are offered free of charge to all Township residents.

Our local Lions members also volunteer to assist in the Vision First Eye Clinic.  This project provides free eye exams and glasses to 5,000 children annually from the Chicago Public Schools system.

I am fortunate to be a part of a group of men and woman with such passion for helping others. You too can reap the personal reward of helping others, while enjoying the fellowship of other Lions. Join us today and make a difference in your life and others. Contact our Club through the “Contact Us” link here on our website.
