Rio Vista Lions Club has served its' community for more than 70 years. Sponsored by the Fairfield Host Lions Club, Rio Vista received an International Charter in January of 1938.
The Rio Vista Lions Club was formed [and continues] to raise funds for contributions to various civic and charitable groups. It has supported youth groups and scholarships; these groups realize approximately 50% of the total funds donated. The balance of the contributions go to community organizations such as schools, police and fire departments, US Coast Guard, and other local organizations such as the Boy Scouts, Glasses for Students, RV CARE, the Bass Festival in Rio Vista, Meals on Wheels, a sponsored Soap Box Derby, and the Sister Cities Association. Other community "service" activities are also supported.
Rio Vista located in the Sacramento River Delta about 60 miles east of San Francisco. The area is basically farming with some small manufacturing and service industries. The annual Bass Festival is celebrated in the Fall.
Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.
