History of  Lions Club of Rangpo (Gateway Of Sikkim)

The Lions Club of Rangpo (Gateway of Sikkim) club number 97836  fof District  322 f was inaugurated on 02 nd September 2006.Chartered on 16th December 2006, under the Charter President Lion Mangi Lal Jain ,sponsered by Lions Club of Siliguri Terai.

Rangpo is a town located in the East Sikkim district in the state of Sikkim.
Rangpo town borders West Bengal and is situated along the river Teesta. It is the first Sikkimese town on the national highway 31A which links Siliguri to Gangtok and marks the point of entry to the beautiful state of Sikkim so the club named as Lions Club Of Rangpo (Gateway Of SIkkim).

Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization. We have 1.35 million members in more than 45,000 clubs in more than 206 countries and geographic areas.

The main Aim of Lions Club International is to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.

Its main purpose is to

  • To Organize, charter and supervise service clubs to be known as Lions clubs.
  • To Coordinate the activities and standardize the administration of Lions clubs.
  • To Create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world. 
  • To Promote the principles of good government and good citizenship. 
  • To Take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community. 
  • To Unite the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding. 
  • To Provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members. 
  • To Encourage service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavors

          Lions Club Of Rangpo has served the community and has taken certain steps including:

  • Dandi Utsav nite at Rangpo on eve of Navratri
  • Ganghi Jyanti celebration.
  • Rescue and relief operation  during emergency
  • Distribution of drinking water during crisis
  • Sit and draw compition at Dichu.
  • Eye camp and blood donation camp at SMIT campus
  • Rally Against terrorism
  • Guru Nanak birth anniversary observed
  • Childrens Day celebration at Rangpo
  • Rally on disaster risk from ITI mining to Rangpo bazaar,250 students n mentors participated
  • Marathon race on World Peace Day
  • Distributed water and juice during fulpati rally
  • Raffle draw for eye centre in collaboration with Greater Lions Siliguri,Lions club of Singtam
  • Painting competition at Puspanjali SSC Pakyong.
  • Free eye check up camp at Rangpo and Lampokhari,Duga,Central Pandam,Kalimpong,Namthang,Mamring
  • Signature campaign  for Taj Mahal to enlist in the new seven wonders of the world.
  • Independence Day celebration
  • Anti drug and awareness programme
  • World Peace rally on world Peace Day
  • Spot diabetes and blood pressure check up camp
  • Distribution of blankets to the needy
  • Free Health medical camp cum talent hunt show
  • Awareness camp on human trafficking
  • International Dyas of Older persons
  • Sports carnival and Drug Awareness.
