CLUB DUES (Effective 1 July 2023)

  • Active Member: R1 200.00 Per Year (Fees paid yearly / 6 monthly July-August & January/February).
  • Initiation Fee: R650.00
It is a requirement of International that the new members entry fee is paid before the formal induction to the Club.

 CLUB RULES:
 

NEW MEMBERS:

  • New members should attend three club events in a period of four months.  The same rules are applicable for a reinstated member.
  • The Membership Committee and the sponsor must visit the prospective new member before the application is submitted to the Board of Directors.
  • Orientation program, co-ordinated by the Membership Director/Committee, must be conducted for each new member prior to their induction.

 

APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP:

Providing the Board has accepted the nomination and a quorum (50% + 1) exists, application for membership may be submitted at a Business Meeting.  When an application for membership is submitted to a Business Meeting, membership will be accepted or rejected by virtue of a majority vote. (50% + 1).

  • Voting will be carried out by secret ballot.
  • Voting papers must record either “Yes”, “No”, or “Abstain”.
  • Counting of voting papers to be carried out by Membership Director and one other Membership Committee Member or Board Member.
  • The Meeting to be advised of the outcome of the vote.

 

ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION:

Members are encouraged to regularly participate in club meetings and activities.(in line with Section 8 of Article 1 of Standard Club By-Laws, 2020)

  • In order to qualify for 100% attendance, any Business Meeting missed may be “made up” by actively participating in any Lions meeting, project, or event.
  • The Club Secretary must be informed of all Lion hours spent by members
  • The President will decide which Club members qualify for 100% attendance awards.

 

 

ANNUAL PRESIDENTIAL INDUCTIONS:

  • Subject to the availability of funds, the Club will sponsor the incoming President (or nominated representative) and one other Member to the induction dinners of other Clubs in our Zone.
  • The current President and Partner in service will be guests at our induction for payment purposes.
  • The current President is the Convenor and host of the Annual Presidential Induction, and the President-Elect can choose the inducting officer for the occasion.

 

MULTIPLE DISTRICT CONVENTION/MIDYEAR CONFERENCE:

  • Funds permitting, the Club will pay part of the convention/conference expenses of the President and Club Members, on condition that full convention must be attended.

 

DRESS CODE:

  • At projects, club colours should be worn as decided by the Convenor of the project.

 

Club Officers

  • No person should preferably hold the position of Club President, Secretary or Treasurer for longer than two consecutive years.

 

CLAIMS:

1. PROJECT EXPENSES:

  • These may be claimed by Members only on submission of a detailed cash voucher or till slip.  In order to qualify for reimbursement, complete claims must be handed in within seven days after completion of the project.

2. PETROL CLAIMS:

  • Petrol used in execution of a service or fundraising project may be claimed @ R2-00 per km.
  • Members are urged to travel together where possible.
  • Toll-gate fees may be claimed on presentation of a slip.

3. TELEPHONE CLAIMS:

  • Telephone claims will be considered.  Detailed information must be submitted to substantiate these claims.
