The Pender Islands Lions meet the needs of the people of South and North Pender Islands as they share a core belief with Lions throughout the world and the people of Pender: they want to to serve their beloved community.
The Pender Islands Lions were formed on Pender in 1973, and have been serving the Pender ever since. In 1979, we helped to build the Pender Islands Health Centre that stands today. In 1980, we initiated the development of the Ambulance Service, and in 1985 we funded the Ambulance helipad.
Every year, we have several core Pender projects that include:
Care Tree, Santa Ship, Polar Bear Swim, Pender Island Phone Book, Car Show and Shine Concession, Pancake Breakfast, Dog Show Concession, Vision Screening for the school & island, Glasses collection & distribution, and Hearing Aids collection & distribution.
In the last year, we helped fund on the Pender Islands:
Food Bank, Immediate Emergency Financial Assistance, 14 Burseries for Post Secondary Students, Community Hall Generator, Pender Island Golf Club Pro Am, Dragonfly, Pipe Band, Santa SAC, Refugee Support Program, 55+ Take A Break, Tour del Iles, MAP, GICEL Camperships, RCMP Bike Rodeo, Santa Ship, Spot Scanner Testing,Salish Sea Inter-Island Festival
In the last year, we helped fund near Pender (our extended community):
Camp Shawnign, Camp Kakemaela Diabetes Camp, Santa Ship Lions International, Western Canada Blind Curling, Western Canada Blind Golf
Please consider joining to build an even better community. We will be working on the Lions Centennial Legacy project this coming year, throughout 2017. Make Pender an even better place for our kids, and each of us, to love, laugh, and live.
