To be able to comply with our motto "We Serve", the club has executed numerous activities in order to fund the service projects in the community. Some of these fundraising activities are:

  • License plates : From 1968 to 1988 the club sold the then necessary car/motorcycle/moped license plates to companies and individuals.
  • In 1969 the club organized a Beauty Contest and the winner represented Suriname at the Miss Universe Contest.
  • In 1974 the club started with a "Pasar Malam", which was an Evening Market. Because of the high costs of execution, after a couple of years the club was forced to make a change to "Pasar North", which was a Day Market.
  • "Mino-Wojo's" (small market) where all kind of mercandise were sold by the club, "Bunkopu Serie's" (selling of second hand clothing) were also carried out by the club. These fundraisers were all copied by individuals, and the revenues dropped considerably, which caused the club to look for other fundraisers.
  • The "Moederdag Verkoop" on Mother's Day started, where the club sold flowers, plants, fruits etc. When this fundraiser was also copied the club changed their focus to selling cakes, baked by Fernandes Bakery, primarily to schoolchildren and companies. This fundraiser is still being carried out.

The main fundraisers of the club at present are:

  • "1st of July Happening'; this fundraiser takes place on the day of remembrance of the abolishment of slavery. The club makes use of the "Palmentuin" (Palm Garden), leasing tents for individuals to sell all kind of merchandise, while a cultural programme and performances of several music formations is being carried out during the day.
  • "Srefidensi Happening" on the independence day of Suriname (25th November). This fundraiser has the same scheme and place as the previous. These two fundraisers were not carried out during a couple of years, due to the maintenance of the Palmentuin which was in a deplorable state. Fortunately we have currently been allowed to continue these fundraisers.
  • Our latest fundraiser is the "Gezins Speurtocht" (Family Quest), which is a car rally for the whole family, whereas no skills and experience are needed. This fundraisers started in the year 2007.
