Registration Begins March 4, 2024 / La inscripción comienza el 4 de marzo de 2024

The 2024 Safety Town Pilot Program will be held on June 10-14 from 9am - 12pm at Maple Elementary School (560 West Jackson Street, Painesville, OH 44077).  Enrollment is limited to 30 PCLS students entering Kindergarten in the 2024-2025 school year, and is on a first come, first served basis. Eligible participants will require a verified PCLS registration number.

El Programa Piloto Safety Town 2024 se llevará a cabo del 10 al 14 de junio de 9 am a 12 pm en Maple Elementary School, 560 West Jackson Street, Painesville, OH 44077. La inscripción está limitada a 30 estudiantes de PCLS que ingresen a Kindergarten en el año escolar 2024-2025 y se otorga por orden de llegada. Los participantes elegibles necesitarán un número de registro PCLS verificado.

E-MAIL OR DROP OFF REGISTRATION (accepted on “first come, first served basis”) starting March 4th, 2024. Complete all forms listed below and drop off to the Painesville Board of Eduction (58 Jefferson St, Painesville, OH 44077), or email all documents to pvillesafetytown@outlook.com. You may also email with questions.

Teen Aide Application / Solicitud de asistente adolescente
All completed forms must be received by May 10, 2024. If you have been accepted, you will be notified by May 20, 2024.  This is “first come, first serve,” so the sooner you mail in your completed application, the better your chances of being accepted.
1. Complete the Teen-Aide Application
2. Parental Permission and Agreement form- to be completed by parent or legal guardian
3. Email completed Teen-Aide Application and Parental Permission forms to pvillesafetytown@outlook.com
 
Todos los formularios completos deben recibirse antes del 10 de mayo de 2024. Si has sido aceptado, se te notificará antes del 20 de mayo de 2024. What is Safety Town? / ¿Qué es Safety Town?

Our Safety Town is a 5-day summer program that will provide students entering kindergarten with knowledge in the areas of: pedestrian safety, fire safety, bike safety, water safety, train safety, and recreation safety.
 
By the end of the 5-day program, students will be able to utilize their safety skills at home, school and within the community, resulting in a sense of confidence in attendees to build their self-esteem. 
 
Our Safety Town es un programa de verano de 5 días que brindará a los estudiantes que ingresan al jardín de infantes conocimientos en las áreas de: seguridad de peatones, seguridad contra incendios, seguridad de bicicletas, seguridad en el agua, seguridad de trenes y seguridad de recreación.
 
Al final del programa de 5 días, los estudiantes podrán utilizar sus habilidades de seguridad en el hogar, la escuela y la comunidad, lo que generará una sensación de confianza en los asistentes para desarrollar su autoestima.
 
Why We Need a Safety Town / Por qué necesitamos una Safety Town
A survey from Safe Routes to School (Painesville City) indicated 50% of caregiver respondents felt it was unsafe or very unsafe for kids to travel to school by walking or biking.
 
This program is designed to help children have a well rounded safety education through interactive activities and structured play led by instructors. 
 
High school volunteers will help them recognize everyday dangers they may encounter while they are out in the community.
 
Una encuesta de Rutas Seguras a la Escuela (Ciudad de Painesville) indicó que el 50% de los cuidadores encuestados sentían que era inseguro o muy inseguro que los niños viajaran a la escuela caminando o en bicicleta.
 
Este programa está diseñado para ayudar a los niños a recibir una educación de seguridad integral a través de actividades interactivas y juegos estructurados dirigidos por instructores.
Los voluntarios de la escuela secundaria los ayudarán a reconocer los peligros cotidianos que pueden encontrar mientras están en la comunidad.
