So pass me an ale,
And I will tell you a tale
Of times of long ago.

Lets give them their due,

It was 1922,
And the times were just so-so

A fine group of men,

And we can do it again,
Build the club that we all hold dear.

For the needs were great,

And the people could not wait,
For their hearts were filled with fear.

The Lions Club was born,

And I could have sworn,
That there was a great cry of relief.

As they got to work,

No Lion his duty would shirk,
As they tried to help with the grief.

Food baskets for the needy,

But not for the greedy,
Were delivered to their door.

And as time went by,

The Lions did not ask why,
That they had to do more and more.

So now to the present,

Which is not too pleasant,
Some people need food for their table.

The need is still there,

And the Lions still care,
And will do whatever they're able.

New members we must find,

Or we'll be left behind,
With a future not too bright.

So remember 1922

And see what you can do
WE MUST RE-LIGHT THE LIGHT
