WELCOME TO THE ORO DISTRICT LIONSWEB SITE

ABOUT OUR SERVICE CLUB...

The Oro District Lions Club received our charter in Apr.1973. Since that time we have grown with the Township we serve (Oro-Medonte) to become one of the larger Lions clubs in District A12.  Currently with 33 members, the Oro Lions maintain a highly visible profile in the community. We have been privileged to receive strong support from friends and family members. This has allowed us to raise significant monies that we have put back into numerous meaningful community projects.

The Club meets at the local Oro Station Community Hall on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday at 7:00pm. The hall is located on the Ridge Road just east of the 7th line of Oro.

SO WHERE IS 'ORO-MEDONTE' ?- The predominantly rural township of Oro-Medonte is located along the north-west shore of Lake Simcoe in the province of Ontario, Canada. We are between the cities of Barrie on the south and Orillia on the north. The sheer size of the township has resulted in what many term a "community of communities". There are numerous small villages and unique neighborhoods, each having long traditions and promising futures.

The Oro District Lions Club was formed in the old 'Oro Township' prior to the merger with the neighboring 'Medonte' Township. Hence we tend to concentrate our efforts in the 'Oro' portion of the Township, while the many services that the two cities provide offer us lots of meaningful local projects to support.

The Club belongs to District A12 which plays host to four major 'Camps' for assistance to the blind, the deaf, those with diabetes, and those needing dialysis. These camps, along with the Oakville Lions Foundation Canada Dog Guide School and of course Lions Clubs International Foundation, extend our local club's ability to be of service far beyond the confines of our chartered area.
