The Orillia Lions Club chartered in 1937 supports many organizations and individuals within the community. For many years Orillia Lions have sponsored minor hockey, baseball, soccer and lacrosse. They also financially support Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Children's Aid (summer camps) and other local youth activities. Orillia Lions provide support to Soldier's Memorial Hospital (In 2001 a pledge of $75,000 to the building fund was paid over 5 years), maintenance of and sponsor attendance to C.N.I.B Camp Lake Joseph, Lions Camp Dorset (dialysis patients) and Camp Huronda (diabetes camp for children). In 2012 the Club made a major pledge to the new Orillia Public Library in the amount to $20,000. The Club also assists organizations such as the CNIB  as well as also financially supporting the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal and assisting in their campaign. Financial Help is provided to individuals in the community for health needs where other avenues of assistance are not available. Special attention is given to youth needs and sight impaired.
