About Lions Club International

Lions Club International has grown tremendously since its inception in 1917. We started out helping seniors citizens obtain proper care for their eyes, including exams, medical care, and of course, glasses. Over the next century, the Lions Club has expanded from the philantropic ideals of a Chicago businessman to 45,000 clubs and 1.35 million members.

Lions Clubs worldwide recently:

  • Brought 3,000 volunteers together to build a playground for children of all abilities in California, USA.
  • Fed 60,000 people in a township in South Africa. It’s something Lions do there every day.
  • Sent a team of eye surgeons to Honduras to treat more than 100 adults and children.
  • Helped treat River Blindness and other preventable vision diseases.

Our community projects support local children and schools through scholarships, recreation,
and mentoring. Since 1968, the Lions Clubs International Foundation has awarded more than $660 million in grants to support Lions humanitarian projects around the world.

Prospective members, please join us as a special guest at our next dinner meeting or service project.
